When I was in high school I worked at a day camp during the summer. The camp was on the grounds of a historical mansion and mostly art and history themed, so most of the kids came from “artsy” families. I was in charge of a group of older girls aged 9-12, most of whom were into manga and cutesy kid anime like Hamtaro. Some of them started bringing their manga to camp to read during lunch and we allowed it, because it seemed pretty harmless. Hell, one of the other counselors and I started bringing in some of our old (age appropriate) manga to give them! They were a good group of kids and it was kind of heartwarming to see them get so excited over my old mangas, I even had a parent write me a thank you note.

All was well and good with our little manga exchange until I heard about a couple of adult comics going around.

I have been reading about con theft on several forums in the past 2 hours. I also found a particularly eye-opening discussion on the crunchyroll forums (CR forums contain the most ridiculously stupid weeaboos ever and will fess up to ANYTHING)

the general consensus is that there is a LOT of theft…
